Javier’s Testimony of His Journey with Christ
I don’t really remember how my life was before Christ cause I was real young. But in a way I bet I was selfish and a self centered kid who didn’t want to share anything with the other kids.
In my crazy, wild childhood my parents would make us sit and listen to some missionaries who came to our house. As time went by we came closer and closer to those missionaries who taught us about Christ, and how we should do good and obey Him. Soon we would sit around and listen not as an order but as our own choice.
Now its been years since I’ve been studying God’s word and every time our missionary comes to teach us I learn something new and exciting. I have learned a lot, but still know that there’s a lot more to learn. My life is now going great. I have become a better person and I know God is in control of my life.
The journey for the Wise men that first Christmas night, as they followed the light of the new star, eventually led them to the Christ child. If we follow the same path as these Wise men, by following the light of the world, our journey will lead us to Christ Jesus as well. For He is the Light of the world.
“Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved, you and your household.” (Acts 16:31)
The Journey of Life
An Evening in October
As we open our Bible study time with pray we usually give our prayer requests and then either Javier or I would pray. But God had begun to lay on my heart that we, together, should begin to pray for each other. Evelyn, the middle schooler, had never wanted to pray out loud before. But on this evening I explained to them that our prayer time was going to change. Evelyn would pray for me and my requests, Javier would pray for Evelyn and her requests, and then I in turn would pray for Javier and his requests. Evelyn was nervous, but was willing to try. Their mom sat with us around the table and Evelyn spoke up and said, “what about my mom?” I had never heard Olivia pray out loud before, but said, “sure if she would like to”. So the kids explained to her in Spanish what we were going to do. She said, “I have never prayed out loud before.” I told her she could go last so that she could hear us pray out loud. Then I asked Javier to pray in Spanish. This was a first for him because we always pray in English. But eventually we began to pray. After Olivia had finished praying their dad, from the living room, asked, “ Could I pray too?” I said, “Yes!” So we bowed our heads again and Porfirio prayed as well. This is the first time the whole family and I had each prayed out loud together. It was a special time and I thank God that I could be a part of it.
